www.enota.com Part IV Life at Enota
To learn more about the people and activities of Enota, scroll down and then make your way back up.... With all the trimmings!
But it certainly does lend itself to a party! (Lodge)
And the front door bears its Native American art.
Usually, one of the main attractions of the Lodge is the gift shop which features offerings from Fair Trade businesses like Ten Thousand Villages.
Lodge furniture is re-arranged so that the Tree and all the decorations light up the Lodge.
During the Thanksgiving Feast, guests help the staff apply the finishing touches to the Christmas tree, then pose for photos which are later turned into personalized ornaments in a crafts workshop after dinner.
And retreats to learn more about nature, organic gardening, farming and being a part of the spring planting.
Yoga....you guessed it, same place...
Ats & Crafts.......(also taking place in Dakota's Activity Room, attached to the sleeping rooms, also great for a rainy day....)
Other educational activities include music workshops and clinics for schools....in this shot, we see rainy day activities for a visiting choir.
With its human 'Mom.'

More views of Enota in Autumn....as always, scroll down and work your way up.... Or going out the front entrance.

As always, start at bottom and scroll up! And this of course, is where the animals that live on the organic farm stay...which includes a cow, goats, miniature horses and rabbits....lots of rabbits!
Dakota is one of the buildings that provides double (and a few single) rooms for workshops and retreats. My middle and high school choir girls stayed in Dakota on our music retreat.
And the view is scenic, whether one eats inside or out on the new deck. This vantage point features the Dakota structure.
One must admit, the charm of indoor dining is very attractive!
And dumpster take-away usually suffices for those on-the-go on the trail!
But more intimate meals, such as Sunday breakfast are popular as well.
The main function of The Lodge however, is to feed the guests and staff, particularly at the Thanksgiving Feast.
Or with friends, The Cat's Cradle Harmonious Tangle of Strings (and Winds) concertizing in "The Nutshell," an enclosed pavilion on the site.

Scroll down to bottom of page and work your way back up to see the continuing story of the best-kept secret in Ga., - Enote Mt. Retreat! Then there is the 'showpiece' of Enota...the tall waterfall visible from 'the hotel' rooms behind the Lodge. Stay tuned for photos of Enota graced in Autumn finery.
Water at Enota has also been known to 'be still,' unless of course, it's being stirred up by trout, which are stocked into this pond for fishing during the season.
Of course, a lot of the credit for the success of the green at Enota goes to water, in the form of several streams and waterfalls that dot the property. Camping streamside and falling asleep to the murmer of moving water is one of our favorite things about the peacefulness of Enota.
Mother Nature also manages some pretty fancy gardening, herself at Enota, covering the mountainside with wildflowers every spring, so that the hiking trail that connects Enota to the AT is a carpet of beauty.
The success of this endeavor is due to the efforts of Suan, the tireless dream-keeper of Enota and to the staff & volunteers, both adults and school children who spend time at Enota as gardeners-in-training for projects and retreats that give everyone a hands-on education in the art of ecology.
One the biggest draws for folks who love gardening is the organic farm at Enota. It is Enota's goal to become self-sufficient and to that end, the garden grows a little bigger and better every year.
Enota is a mountain retreat and campground (with cabins) up in the N. Ga. Mts. We fell in love with the place after discovering it online when we bought our first camper van in 2004. It's about 2 hours from N. Cobb Co. and almost every shady site is on a stream. We've camped there so much and are so enamored of Enota that I am the 'staff musician' and play and sing campfires throughout the season. I also help out with marketing, so the clips you see on the website from Channel 2 were my inspiration! And that would be of course, www.enota.com Check it out and watch the video!
