And Baby Makes Three!

For the Tolley family, that is, but that's Patty Kidd holding him while Amy and Harry did their wedding rehearsal thing. This kid knows a camera when he sees one and was one heck of a trooper for the entire weekend.

From Colorado to Disney Lane

No, not a misprint....that's Spencer and Libby's address! And the wedding was Disneyland, for sure, beginning with the food.... Then there was the over-the-top traditional (?) dance for the groom and his mother, which was a swing dance...go Murray!!!

90 degrees for this outdoor event in San Jose....

But Fr. Scott Kidd kept it short and sweet.

Check out Amy and Harry in the wedding entourage. New baby David was also in the audience.

The rehearsal dinner was a Southern BBQ plus Mac & Cheese and Banana pudding all by Mary under an arbor that was so cleverly done it was hard to describe. Decorations and sweet tea also by the Slider clan.

Must have been about 80 guests, thanks to Spencer's all-call on Facebook!

Rehearsal featured a LOT of Georgians!

And our old friend, Father Scott.

Meanwhile, scenes from the trip to San Jose, along the Loneliest Road in America, US 50 through Utah and Nevada. These are autographs from the entertainers who have performed at the Eureka Opera House in Austin, one of the few stops on said road.

Also in Austin, another tiny stop, met the bottleman who collects (and makes a nice pile of loot on) antique bottles which he and the other collectors in town (everybody) find by researching old towns, employing below-ground radar to locate and excavate old privvies. A lot more to this story, but it will keep. Suffice it to say, he has made enough on his 'occupation' to buy 2 turquoise mines and he sells jewelry as well as bottles. Doesn't everyone?

The Eureka Operah House features about 18 major acts per year.

Kayaking in Clear Creek alongside our campground in Golden, Colo., a really pretty town!

Which also features a nearby pioneer village across the creek.

Family Reunions and other roadside oddities

Between the cool attractions on Route 66 and the interesting variety of activities at the Family Reunion, Oklahoma held a certain quirky attraction in itself. The Reunion fun 'n' games ranged from a giant jigsaw to a water gun fight.

The G's and kids they met at the Blue Whale on Route 66 in Oklahoma. This used to be a cool swimming hole, but now fishing off the Blue Whale is the main attraction. (Water) Gunfight at the OK Corral...or rather the OK Family Reunion in Tulsa. Since it was in the high 90's, a water gun fight between Granddaughter and Grandpa was just the ticket!

Finally, defeated by the heat and the prospect of even hotter weather as we were to follow old Route 66 via I-40 through AZ, NM, and southern NV and CA, we aborted to a more northerly route up through Kansas then west through Colo. where we camped along Clear Creek in Golden and watched the kayakers.

The view from the campground in Golden.

And best of all, it went down into the 50's at night and only in the low 80's during the day. All this and spectacular scenery, too!

Friends and Family Along the Way....

Fishin' with old friends....

Dell and Ida Holt, dear friends through Vintage Vocals welcomed us into their dream home in Arkansas once again where we went fishing and Dell caught 'the big one!'

2010 the next adventure...

...begins with a new Wee Hoose and us heading out to San Jose for Spencer's wedding. As of this moment, we sit in our camper van while yet another storm rages over our heads. We are in a pretty little campground in Tupelo, but storms have dogged us all the way across Alabama. At least we are stopped and hooked up. Pretty impressive lightning. On the way, we stopped at a very cool folk pottery place in Hamilton, AL. Nice folks and whimsical (and downright funny) pottery, although those pieces are not pictured. Loved the fleet of martin houses at the potter's home, too!
